You don't expect much, if anything. It's a commercial holiday.

You think it stinks! What a dolt. If he can't afford a ring, how can he afford to get married.
You understand that rings are expensive, but you can't help but wonder why he didn't at least get her a cheaper second hand ring.
You don't think it's a big deal. The whole engagement ring thing is silly - better to save the money for a house.

3. How much time would you like to spend with your sweetie, ideally?

Everyday! Plus a few little phone calls and emails when you are away from each other.
